I was given a gift so extraordinary yesterday that it blew my mind. Janet Russell made me this incredible star quilt. Be sure to look at the detailed stitching of turtles and flowers on the four corners. The amount of time she spent was a true gift of the heart. Janet also volunteered to edit the first draft of my book, also a huge and time-consuming job. Having someone do this for me, is such a blessing. Janet bought the back fabric "Indigenous Turtles," designed by David Halfpint Martin, Pokagob Potawatomi Tribal Citizen, Bear Clan. This gift means so much to me, not only the exquisite beauty, but she researched Star Quilts, which are traditional for Lakota, bought the special fabric, and spent hours and hours, making it for me. I am humbled by this gift.
